On November 19th, 2020, New Deal Theatre, a new virtual theatre company presented its first production, “Becoming Eleanor Roosevelt” by Bill Lokke. Growing out of the pandemic the company tried, in a small, way to keep artists working and developing a model to get income directly to the artists. Our first outing was a success, and we were able to break even and share some of that income with the artists.
We created a platform to present work written for this new online format. We would like to find other two to five character, 30-40 minute plays written to be performed. The company will invest in technology that can be sent to each actor to participate in the performance. Actors will work with a director to create the performance.
